"Wow it was splendid !
"What a talented and creative group of people" , wrote the Archdeacon of York in our visitors book.
It was the twenty third exhibition we have held in the village and although smaller than usual the display of paintings was of the very highest standard , and appreciated by everyone who came to the exhibition. The visitors book testifies to the hard work , skill and technical ability of members , praise indeed.
However large or small an exhibition is , many people put in a lot of hard work to produce it. Karl, arranged for tables to be borrowed from Carlton and he then humped and lumped them to and from Monk Fryston.
Ian somehow hung a selection of the larger paintings on the walls with what seemed like string and a prayer , since he could not put nails into the notice boards ! The result was wonderful , thank you Ian for your hard work and ingenuity. Although there are many people I should thank and indeed I do, without Kathy who does so much of the organising we would be lost ! So Kathy , a hearty thanks form all of us.
We showed 78 paintings , 30 plus were sold and about 13 commissions were sought by would be buyers.
Wether these persons will ever get their pictures is another matter.
In the future I think we must devise some method which will indicate or not if the artist wishes to accept commissions.
The advantage of having an exhibition over a long weekend was obvious. During the interval on the Friday evening we sold four paintings, by Saturday evening the tables were looking a little bereft of exhibits so some of the gaps were filled with paintings that were not for sale. It looked better , fortunately Cindy came to my aid by rushing to the hall with even more paintings. Thanks Cindy.
In conclusion the exhibition was excellent , the interest from the large amount of people who came was amazing , the atmosphere was wonderful , people enjoyed themselves , and we sold pictures , what more could we ask for ?

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS
David has looked after the library for us all year , for which we thank him. The book audit is creeping up fast so David and I would ask that you all look carefully at home for any art club books you may have hidden away in cupboards etc.
