Jane Duke is a watercolour artist, printmaker and portrait painter who is known for her fresh, vibrant paintings and her use of pure, clear colour. Born in Sussex, her home has been in the historic city of York in the north of England since 1997.
Jane's work is characterised by its revelation of the
half hidden colours around us. This encourages the viewer to see the familiar
with new eyes and to rediscover enjoyment of the surrounding world.
Her work has been bought and commissioned by private
and corporate clients both in the UK and abroad. Jane has been featured in several national publications including
Artists and Illustrators which in 2009 described her as a 'master of
watercolour'.
Jane is a popular tutor whose
weekend workshops are often oversubscribed. Her sympathetic and encouraging
approach gives great confidence to both beginners and improvers. She believes
in breaking through the mystique and jargon that surrounds watercolour and in
sharing knowledge. As a professional associate
of the SAA (Society for All Artists) Jane carries the society's endorsement as a
recommended tutor and demonstrator. For
details of one and two-day watercolour workshops with Jane please click here. If you are a member of an art club and
would like Jane to visit you for a watercolour portrait demonstration or to
teach a workshop for your members, please get in touch to ask for rates and
availability.
You can find out where else you can
meet Jane or see her work on the Events
page.
