Mike Dobson workshop Monday 14 November 2016
--------------------------------------------------------
If you have never been to a workshop by Mike Dobson MBE, you are in for a treat.
He always goes back to first principles, so everyone gets a refresher course, and we always end up with a picture or two completed in our afternoon session. This time there will be two pictures to complete - the first one a 'simple but effective' pen and wash study to be finished in the first hour, before tea break.  Then it is smartly back to work for a winter scene of Great Gable in the Lake District, in watercolour. All to be completed by 4:00pm. Attached to this email  are five images - please print them out, so you know what you are doing on the day. It will save time if both pictures are sketched out lightly in pencil before you arrive. Otherwise you will be rushing to catch up all afternoon!

Christmas market at Monk Fryston Hall Friday 2 December 2016
--------------------------------------------------------
The Art Club's stall at this event is now booked. Jean Kipling has generously agreed to co-ordinate our stall - of crafts, small pictures etc, by Club members only. Please contact Jean if you are interested in displaying items for sale, on 01977 683982, or emailbarrykipling555@btinternet.com. Items for display are to be delivered to Jean at the Art Club meeting on Monday 28 November, no later please, unless by special agreement with Jean, who will be in charge on the day, but she will welcome any willing helpers. Setting-up will be from 3:00pm on the day, open to the public from 6:30pm. If you can visit the Hall on the Friday evening, it promises to be a very interesting event, which we hope will grow and develop in future years. The first Christmas market will have over 30 stalls of crafts and local produce, along with hot food and drinks, and of course the Hotel bar will be open…

Christmas Lunch at the Watermill Monday 12 December 2016
--------------------------------------------------------
Marjorie had booked the lunch for 12 December. We hope to have the same arrangement as last year, where each member fills in their lunch order on a form provided by the Watermill. This ensures that you get what you order. There will be the usual Christmas menu, but if you are a member of more than one club you can suffer turkey overload in December, so other options are available off the standard menu. Please confirm your booking asap to Marjorie Webster -emailmarjiwebster@hotmail.com. When we have the menu forms they will be distributed on Monday afternoons, for completion during November.

New Art Club website
--------------------------------------------------------
Malcom Pexton has added more items to the temporary website and invites you to have a look at it on  http://www.yorkww.org.uk/artclub  then comment to him on malcolm.pexton@btopenworld.com regarding  what you would like to see there. The website is intended as an adjunct to the Club. It won't replace programmes printed on paper (in spite of rumours to that effect among some members), but it will mean that if you lose your paper programme, you will be able to check out what is happening next week. Malcolm wants it to be a useful resource for members, or as an introduction to potential members. He really wants your feedback, so please take the trouble to look. Once he is sure that he has a product which fulfils members' needs, it will move to a permanent site with a new
