Important message to all members

CLUB MEETING next MONDAY, FEB 1st.  2016.
URGING everyone to be present.   There are a number of very important topics to discuss.

1.    MEMBERSHIP.  We have a waiting list.

2.    CLUB OUTINGS.   Yorkshire Sculpture Park.   16th May.   ( much to discuss).
           Other suggestions,  The Hepworth Gallery
                                            Leeds City Art Gallery.

3.    CLUB PROJECTS.    a).   TOUR de YORKSHIRE. 29th April.  Comes through Monk
Fryston.   Do we join in the village festivities?
IDEAS PLEASE.  Jean still has the Olympic hoops which could be useful.

b).    GIFT OF MONK FRYSTON DRAWINGS.   How do we make best use of them?

4.    EXHIBITIONS.    1).    EXHIBITION SPACE for a month long exhibition in Selby is
Pencilled in.  Your thoughts and ideas are IMPERATIVE.  So far, a preview for
invited  guests and possible lunch time invites are topics that have been discussed
with the owner of the shop.   Along with some thoughts on window displays.
WHAT ELSE ?   WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE ?   WILL YOU TAKE PART ?
The advantage is that members would not have to man the exhibition.
We need YOU AT THE MEETING to discuss this.

2).     ANNUAL EXHIBITION.   Ian and Malcolm are looking at venues.
ESSENTIAL to get a date organised ASAP.   Do you want another Exhibition if we
go  ahead with the month long Selby exhibition?  If so, WHEN. ?

5.     COMMITTEE.     There are a number of  vacancies on the committee that need to be
filled.  The nature of the positions need to be defined and thought given to other
               Tasks, such as:-
               Refreshments,
               The notice board.
               Cupboards.
Books.   And so on.   No 'job' is particularly arduous, could YOU DO IT?
Please give a lot of thought to ELECTING NEW MEMBERS TO THE COMMITTEE
at the next CLUB MEETING, in approximately a months time.   YOUR ENJOYMENT
of the club is dependant upon YOU taking part.

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO BE AT THE MEETING ON MONDAY AND THE
SUBSEQUENT ONE.   IT REALLY IS IMPORTANT.

Jean and Rod.

Charles Kelly upcoming demo

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that at the next club meeting there is a demo by Charles Kelly.

He will do a short demo and then it will be our turn. We will require a couple of pieces of watercolour paper preferably stretched or on a block, watercolour tubes, large brushes and plenty of water as he tends to work loosely. He usually brings reference material.

If someone could take a few photos for the blog please, as I personally can't make it that day.

Regards,

Karl

Club update

Monk Fryston Art Club Update

Dear member

As you will be aware, a lot has happened recently in regard to the Club. Some matters now need your urgent attention, so please read this email carefully.

Your subscription for 2016 must be paid by 30 December 2015Please pay by cheque (ONLY) for £20.00 payable to Monk Fryston Art Club. There are four more Monday meetings before then, so there are plenty of opportunities to hand your cheque in. ‘No payment, no membership’, to quote our Treasurer.

Currently we have 40 members, and Monday meeting fees will revert to £2.00 (£3.00 for demonstrations or workshops and £4.00 for demo visitors).

Programme for the next four weeks:
23 November: Cindy Yaxley: demo-workshop on framing
30 November: Free painting
7 December: Billy Bills: Painting demo and pre-Christmas entertainment.
14 December: Christmas lunch at the Watermill
4 January 2016: First meeting of the New Year, to blow away the festive cobwebs

The Christmas lunch has been booked for the Watermill (on the old A1) on 14 DecemberJean needs to know your requirements asap, so that she can tell the Watermill. She has menus to hand out; the cost will be £12.95 for three festive courses. Please contact by 23 November at the latest, or you will miss out - we have to pre-book the number attending and specific orders from the menu in advance.

Jean Kipling will be running the Club’s stall at the Monk Fryston Christmas Fair on Friday 27 November. She needs small items for sale from members, by Monday 23 November.

Karl will continue to produce the blog; we propose that all members are automatically added to its circulation list. This means that in future all decisions made by the Club will be added to the blog, and thus an update will be emailed to all members that week.

From now on Ron will update the Club’s Facebook page.

We now have  a new co-opted committee, until we can get volunteers for more permanent posts:
President: Jean Dearn (persuaded to stay on as founder and figurehead). Treasurer: Maureen Elsworth (club treasure and essential committee member). Chairman: Rod Ward (reluctantly agreed to serve, temporarily). Bookings: Maureen Boothe (still in place). In future any committee matters will be discussed with the club members present on any Monday.

A working group is being put together to organise the 2016 Exhibition, which will probably be held in Monk Fryston Community Centre. Malcolm Anderson has volunteered for the group, and we hope to add four or five more members to it.

If you need more information contact Rod Ward as soon as possible.
