June Elsey's workshop, Staithes.

I wasn't able to take full part today due to work but was able to get along , enjoy a cuppa (as did a certain ape probably) and snap a few photos.
I hope you enjoy them. There is the odd finished painting from previous weeks too, keep bringing these if you can it's great to see the development.

The workshop was an Oil or Acrylic painting of Staithes nr Whitby on the east coast, a lovley part of the country.

June brought two samples along , one in acrylic and one watercolour, both were terrific.

Hopefully we will have some finished ones to show soon.

Olympic Torch Relay

On the 19th May the Olympic Torch will commence it's 70 day journey from Lands End to London whilst reaching 90% of the population of Britain.
It will pass through the Selby district on Tuesday 19th June, it's 31st Day starting at Hull and finishing the day in York.

Along that route it will pass through Monk Fryston.....

As I understand it Monk Fryston Parish council is planning to celebrate this momentous day with a whole host of events.

They are looking for all organisations and or individuals to help out and have invited the Art Club to create a series of paintings celebrating the London Olympic ,the Paralympic Games and the Queens Jubilee.
I believe that we may be asked to hang paintings along the Church wall.

There are all kinds of subjects to choose from such as past host cities, sports stars , Olympic events, Ancient Olympics, The Olympic Torch, Olympic Logo's and of course Queen Elizabeth herself , etc etc.

If you have any ideas please discuss them with the Club president.

It will be in Acrylics or Oils , so you need to draw , trace, download , print  etc the picture onto acrylic paper , canvas or gessoed board and you will need the following colours.
Ultramarine blue, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, any Red or crimson and white.
There are some paints available to borrow if you don't have them.

Jan 30th , Free Painting

I wasn't able to take part today as I was due at work for 3pm. Instead I called in and took photos of the paintings.
Two reasons for this , one being that I got a cup of tea and a biscuit before work. The other being that I was able to chat to a few of the members and get some little tips and advice. Thank you.
Oh I suppose I should add that I was able to add the below photo's too but now I've given the game away about my alterior motive.
Ah well onto the paintings.

Some of them are now really taking shape and it's nice to see the development from week to week.

Once you are at the bottom of any page , click on "Older posts" and you will skip back to previous weeks.
Click on any painting for a clearer, larger look and you will then have an easier viewing experience.

Also at the top of the page is the "Next Blog" button , this should take you to other blogs with a similar theme, although I have had mixed results with this ! You have been warned.
