Annual exhibition date correction

On the last post I mentioned that our annual exhibition was going to be on the 12th and 13th October.

Well that date is wrong and the correct date is the week earlier , namely the 4th 5th and 6th October.

Apologies for any confusion.

Inky prints

It was a free painting meet this week as the lovely weather continues and the first meet since the Holmfirth art show where some members were successful in selling their paintings. Congratulations to them on that.

It would be nice to have a page with those particular paintings on , so I'll try and arrange that, hopefully those that sold have kept their own photos. If you have and are reading this then please email them to me etc and ill put it together.

Along the same theme , we are now working hard towards our own annual event that will be held this year in the church hall in the second week in October so the 12th and 13th. Again closer to the time I will hopefully get a post out with as many of the entries on as possible, so start bringing them to the club meet ASAP and I can start recording them.

The only paintings this week to show are from our treasurer who caused a stir with some examples of a course she had attended which was in respect of ink printing. I didn't get the whole process but the effects are certainly impressive.

As I understand it once the stencil is produced, seen here on the right then no end of prints can be produced and using different colours each time.

Mike Dobson watercolour demo workshop

We had a demo today with a Mike Dobson who was sailing off shortly after for a working cruise. I don't think that means he is the engine room though.

The first four photos here are Mikes work in progress and a completed one but not the one e did today.

The rest are all our efforts.

All the above are Mike Dobsons.

All the below are ours, click on them for a better bigger look.

Bonus paintings below, a couple of finished ones from Ian Woodhouse.

It's nice to see some completed paintings so do bring them along or email them to me.

Free painting

I was intending to just show completed paintings on the blog from now on but due to a low turn out today I've included everyone's effort today. Although having said that I have to apologise to one member whose work does not appear this week but who was there. Basically I went over to photograph it then got sidetracked and forgot. Sorry Rod !

Demo by Roy Johansen 17th June

Late post apologies for that. This week we had a demonstration by someone new to us, although he has visited the hall before with a certain John Smith !

Roy gave us an I formative demo on his life and style of painting and how he came to be a painter which involved an illness and the painting being part of his recovery.

He is a Bob Ross qualified instructor and brought along some examples of that work and some of his own style.
